I was waiting for this opportunity a long time.
As you might have seen or read, the WTB Phoenix is my absolute favorite classic MTB for many reasons.
When a collector from US asked me if I would be interested in this bike, I first had to say no, because I had this lovely WTB Phoenix SE, my dear friend over more than 2-3k kms (Link).
But, the more we spoke about and some month later, I couldn`t resist. This chance was too good for someone who thinks: this is the best steel MTB ever build. Steve and his WTB friends simply were so innovative, with their parts and this frame.
The geometry of my other Phoenixes had proven this already - long head tube, sloping top tube, thick Ritchey tubes, half fillet brazed, short chain stays and the Type II forks. These bike ride soo good and one could say, these Gravels out are a copy of them :). feel free to read the ride reports (18" Link and 16.5" Link).
Back to this version.
This is one of the very first WTB Phoenix SE 18".
It is equipped with everything one could want and order back then as custom specs - 140mm rear spacing, 118 front spacing, U brake roller cams, rare WTB CK headset version and a 100% catalogue
WTB group set.
Initially blue this frame had to be repainted hence the original paitng from D&D cycle was damaged.
